Groomer

Position: Groomer

Full-Time & Part-Time positions available

Supervisor: Executive Director

Supervises: Dog Bather

Location: Thornydale Rd

Status: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

This Groomer position is to perform dog grooming activities at Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center.

You will be responsible for all grooming methods and adhering to industry standards.  Sol Dog will pay commission based upon experience and the Groomer will earn all related tips. All customers belong to Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide all types of grooming services such as hair cutting, styling, brushing, bathing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, and teeth-brushing.
  • Ability to work with all types of dogs and behaviors.
  • Willingness to train volunteers and other staff in bathing and grooming techniques.
  • Work with Sol Dog staff to set up appointments for grooming using Sol Dog’s appointment scheduling and accounting software GINGR.
  • Assist with marketing and social media as requested.
  • Enforce and follow all safety programs and procedures related to buildings, grounds, and operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Experience with dog handling and working with behavioral dogs
• Must be a team player.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

• Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
• Strong computer skills. Ability to utilize effectively Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to use effectively Kennel Management software.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Meet schedules and timelines.
• Ability to work effectively with all personnel, other managers and the public.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Work flexible hours and schedules.
• Ability to balance, bend, stand, walk, kneel, twist, stretch, climb and sit.
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to push and pull up a minimum of 30 pounds.
• Ability to tolerate environmental conditions, such as hot, cold, wetness, dust, noise, etc.
• Ability to drive and travel independently to various sites.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two to three years of experience as a groomer.
  • Carry valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds.
  • Good communication skills with Sol Dog team members and customers.
  • Strong administrative skills, ability to work with a variety of computer software, such as, but not limited to GINGR, Microsoft Office Suite and other industry selected software.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend, as needed.
