VOLUNTEER + FOSTER for sol dog lodge and training center
We rely on volunteers and fosters to help us achieve our mission. You are vital to our success and hope you can find an opportunity that piques your interest to join our family. We realize that everyone has various amounts of time and skills to offer and we appreciate everyone for their efforts great and small.
HOW TO GET STARTED
- To get started please complete our on-line Volunteer Application and tell us what you would like to do within our organization. If you are interested in fostering a dog or dogs for Sol Dog Lodge or for Arizona Heartfelt Hounds, please indicate this in the write-in section of the application.
- All volunteers in any capacity must also complete and sign our Volunteer Code Of Conduct and Liability Waiver prior to starting their volunteer duties.
Once Sol Dog Lodge is up and running in Marana, we will open volunteer opportunities to ages 15 and up. We will also then have volunteer opportunities for dog loving, hugging, and walking.
CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Why foster with Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center? Fostering helps save lives, makes rescue dogs more adoptable, and is full of giving and receiving love! A rescue dog’s journey can be rollercoaster, but with your help we can find them their forever home.
If you are interested in becoming a foster, please fill out our Volunteer Application. We will reach out to you first to discuss the opportunities and do a quick phone interview. From there we will have you complete a foster application and we will then complete a home check. Our fosters are required to complete our Foster Orientation to test basic dog care knowledge, have proof of home owner’s insurance and driver’s insurance, and proof of driver’s license.

Perhaps you’d rather get behind the wheel instead of meeting people face to face. Squiring dogs to and from vet appointments, doing fecal runs and taking dogs to events. This type of volunteering does requires the following:
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and valid auto insurance. If you qualify through our insurer, you can also utilize our transport van to transport dogs.
- Ability to assist within only 24 hours notice.
- Able to load up, lift and assist dogs that weight over 50 lbs. in and out of the vehicle.
- Be able to at times, stay with the dog while at veterinary appointments.
Do you love speaking, interacting with the public, or just like talking about dogs? Then do we have the opportunity for you!!! We always need outreach volunteers to share our mission and the joys of all breeds of dog adoption. You will talk to service groups, schools, businesses, active adult communities, and other organizations throughout the community. As well, as work at events and helping create that outreach vibe!!!
Are you a natural event coordinator, like to find new community outlets and just love to set-up and work an event? Then come join our party!!! We are always looking for those social butterflies and event coordinators to take our events from start to finish. New ideas and ways to have fun are greatly encouraged.

If you are interested in fostering with Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center, but are not sure about a longer time commitment, consider respite/emergency fostering. Every so often, we rescue dogs from homing situations that are unable to care for their pet for a short duration of time. Our respite/emergency fosters should be readily available to take dogs in 24 hours notice. The same steps and requirements as our fosters apply to this position. .
Help us continue to support these important programs. Your donation will help dogs and their families who need help during a crisis, or training and placing services dogs, and residential therapy dogs to people in need.
