Every dog deserves a safe place to call home. At Sol Dog Lodge, our adoptable dogs come from a variety of backgrounds, but they all share one thing in common—they’re looking for a family to love them.
Our team invests time into each dog’s health, behavior, and overall well-being before they become available for adoption. We want every placement to be successful, which is why we take the time to carefully match each dog with the right family and provide support throughout the transition.
When you adopt through Sol Dog Lodge, you’re not just gaining a new companion—you’re giving a deserving dog the opportunity to start a new chapter.
Our Adoption Process
Our goal is to make sure every adoption is a great fit for both the dog and their new family.
1. Submit an Application
Complete our online adoption application and submit the required application processing fee.
Basic Requirements
Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
We primarily adopt within Arizona but will consider out-of-state adopters on a case-by-case basis.
2. Interview & Background Review
Once we receive your application, our team will contact you to schedule an interview. During this conversation, we’ll learn more about your lifestyle, experience, and what you’re looking for in a companion. We also conduct a background check as part of our screening process.
3. Home Check
We’ll schedule a home visit to ensure your environment is safe and appropriate for the dog you’re interested in adopting. This isn’t about having a perfect home—it’s about helping set everyone up for success.
4. Meet & Greet (If Applicable)
If you currently have another dog, we’ll arrange a meet and greet at Sol Dog Lodge. Introducing dogs on neutral ground allows us to evaluate compatibility and helps create a positive first interaction.
5. Foster-to-Adopt Trial
Once approved, you’ll bring your new companion home for a 5-day Foster-to-Adopt trial.
During this time, the dog will remain under Sol Dog Lodge’s care while we stay in touch with you to answer questions, provide guidance, and ensure the transition is going smoothly. Our goal is to make sure it’s the right fit for both you and your new family member before the adoption is finalized.
Adoption Fees
Our standard adoption fee is $150 though some dogs may have a higher adoption fee depending on the level of veterinary care, training, or rehabilitation they have received prior to adoption.
Your adoption fee helps offset the cost of preparing your new companion for success and typically includes:
Spay or neuter surgery
Dental cleaning (if needed)
Microchip
Wellness examination
Blood work
Heartworm and tick fever testing
Ear cleaning and nail trim
Transitional food
Collar and leash starter kit
Every adoption fee directly supports our mission and allows us to continue caring for dogs in need while helping more animals find loving homes.

Meet sadie
Almost 3 years old • Belgian Malinois mix • Female • 60 pounds
Sadie is an intelligent, athletic, affectionate dog who thrives when her body and brain have something meaningful to do. She has completed an intensive board-and-train program focused on leash handling, impulse control, confidence, public manners, and engagement with her handler.
Her training foundation includes sit, down, Place, recall exercises, waiting for release, polite greetings, and working around distractions. She has successfully visited parks, hardware stores, pet stores, a farm-supply store, and an outdoor restaurant. Her balance, coordination, and body awareness are particularly impressive.
Sadie is also deeply affectionate. She enjoys attention, gives enthusiastic kisses, and likes being involved in whatever her people are doing. She is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, medically current, and has no known health concerns.
Sadie has made progress learning to remain neutral around other dogs, but she can still become reactive when dogs are close, moving quickly, or present around kennels and thresholds. She has not participated in open dog play and must be the only pet in her next home. She should not visit dog parks or be expected to greet unfamiliar dogs.
Sadie needs an experienced dog owner who enjoys training and can provide consistent structure, activity, enrichment, and boundaries. Previous Malinois experience is not required. Older, dog-knowledgeable children may be considered following careful screening, but she is not recommended for a home with young children.
Best fit: Experienced, active home with no other pets
Energy: Active and highly engaged
Training: House-trained, crate-trained, extensive obedience and public-access foundation
Medical: Spayed, medically current, no known health concerns
Meet Charley
6 years old • Pit bull mix • Female • 50 pounds
Charley is an affectionate, playful dog who has made wonderful progress since arriving at Sol Dog. Her favorite activities include chasing her jolly ball, playing with Kongs and chew toys, splashing in the pool, practicing tricks for treats, and getting plenty of cuddles from the people she trusts.
Charley is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and has no known medical concerns. She has a moderate energy level and enjoys a satisfying balance of playtime and relaxation. She is still working on leash pulling and will need someone willing to continue building her confidence without rushing her.
Charley would ideally be the only dog in her home, although a calm, relaxed, neutered male may be considered following a successful introduction. She needs a home without cats or small children. Older, patient, dog-knowledgeable children may be considered individually.
Charley’s ideal person will understand that trust takes time—and that the affectionate, joyful dog waiting on the other side is absolutely worth getting to know.
Best fit: Patient home, no cats or small children, only dog preferred
Energy: Moderate
Training: House-trained, crate-trained, basic skills and impulse-control work
Medical: Spayed, vaccinated, no known medical concerns

Consider Fostering!
Fostering is one of the most impactful ways you can help a dog in need without making a lifelong commitment.
By opening your home to a foster dog, you’re giving them something a kennel can’t provide—a comfortable place to relax, daily routines, and the opportunity to experience life in a home while they wait for their forever family. Many dogs also benefit from practicing their training and building confidence in a home environment.
Whether you foster for a few weeks or a few months, you’re helping create a brighter future for a deserving dog.
